Movement Practice

This class is my own twist on what I find most interesting about yoga, somatic education, and other movement modalities. We start the class checking in with ourselves and encouraging full body yawning. Then, we go on with a warm up, followed by different sets of functional movements – squats, pull-ups, push-ups, jumping, etc, where we work on strength and mobility in a progressive way. The last part of the class is dedicated to cooling down the body and relaxing the nervous system. Body awareness is a key component of this practice; students are reminded to listen to their bodies and to respect their limitations. Just like in a Feldenkrais lesson, my goal is to assist the students in finding joy through movement while encouraging agency and fostering self-knowledge. Everyone is welcome!

Awareness Through Movement® (ATM)

Moving with Ease and Pleasure

For this series, I selected a diverse body of simple and effective Feldenkrais lessons. Themes include:

  • Shoulder circles

  • Hip movements

  • Jaw and mouth relief

  • Wrist comfort

  • Explorations of primary movement patterns – flexion, side bending etc.

There is a common thread of Moving with Ease and Pleasure in all these themes, leading to improved mood and coordination, pain relief, new postural options and a more harmonious internal state.

These are accessible and enjoyable lessons mostly done on the floor or a chair. You'll be guided through a gentle exploration of novel movement sequences within your own comfort range. A great way to be introduced to this method and rediscover your pleasure in movement. Everyone is welcome!
